W.L. Gore & Associates
Founded in 1958, W. L. Gore & Associates has made its name by creating innovative, technology-driven products. Gore is known worldwide for their fundamental understanding of fluoropolymers. Their PTFE filament and PTFE/Graphite packing fibers are designed to be both high quality and high performance.
The polymer polytetrafluoroethylene, or PTFE, lies at the core of Gore’s technical capabilities. It was Bob Gore who discovered expanded PTFE (ePTFE), a remarkably versatile polymer, in 1969. The characteristics of ePTFE make it highly valuable in the many Gore products and applications used in very demanding environments, from medical implants in the human body, to clothing worn on expeditions to Mt. Everest, to electronic cables transmitting signals from Mars. In addition to their packing fiber line, W.L Gore also produces a variety of ePTFE sealing products such as gasket tapes, joint sealant, and sheet gasketing.
W.L Gore manufactures the "100% GFO" fiber, a combination of PTFE/graphite and lubricant designed to save energy, reduce water consumption, and lower maintenance costs. American Braiding participates in the W.L. Gore "Seal of Assurance" Program, which ensures that every fiber used to braid our style 8000T packing is 100% GFO® Fiber. Look for the new 100% GFO® seal on the box and printed on the packing.
